Started career in 1986 in the customs department dealing with Internal Tax (CDN) during SST 1.0, taking charge of the Excise and Petroleum Duty before being redeploy to the Service Tax then the Sales Tax Branch. Stint at Internal Tax, require to handle on Customs claims, appeals and Tax short paid (BOD). Job scope requires the knowledge of making a caveat, summon, summary judgement, Writ of Seize and Sale, Possession of Immovable Property, Garnishee proceeding, bankruptcy and company winding up.
5 years in Auditing and Post Clearance auditing function with exposure to forensic accounting and paper trail. During this tenure, entrusted to have periodical inspections and auditing of licensees/importer and exporter and their premise to ensure high degree of compliance; responsible for plugging any tax leakages while giving facilitation and duties exemption.
14 years involves in the administration of SST of which was later converted into GST. Also qualified as a GST Trainer and have given training to Chinese Town Hall, Chinese and Malay Chambers of Commerce.
10 years involves in managing the customs aspect in the Free Industrial Zone, LMW, Import-Export shipment, Tran-shipment, the Duty-Free Shop, Bonded Warehousing, Free Commercial Zone, AEO and Airport. During my stint at FIZ and Bonded Warehouse I was also tasked to work with 2 multinationals manufacturers with AEO status to ensure total compliance to the SAFE FoS.
2 years in the Technical and advisory division. Working in the Technical Division impart him the advanced knowledge in WTO Valuation Method and make him an expert in Rules of HS Classification of Good’s. He has a very vast knowledge in trade facilitation especially on Free Trade Agreement and Certificate of Origin. Exposure to tax reliefs, refund, drawback and trade disputes & tribunal appeals. Finally last 2 years in Legal & Enforcement Division before pension as a Deputy Director of Enforcement Zone Central, KLIA. An Authorized Customs/GST Trainer for Customs courses. He was a recipient of the Customs Excellent Service Awards in year 2010 and 2019 from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

Retired as Senior Assistant Director of Customs, Royal Malaysian Customs Department in 2019 after serving for more than 30 years in various areas of Customs Department such as SST/GST, Excise Duty, Bonded Warehouse, Import/Export, Free Industrial Zone, Post-Importation Auditing and with specific working experience in matters related to Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse(LMW) including aspect on working with Customs Golden Client (CGC) and AEO status company.
Since retirement, as a HRD CORP Accredited Trainer and with the intention to put to good use the knowledge, expertise, and working experience on Customs matters, started to conduct training sessions and provide consultancy services to various industries in the manufacturing sector on Customs and other relevant rules, regulations, procedures, Customs facilities, and other activities in the manufacturing industries.
